A Tiffin man wanted on domestic abuse, criminal mischief and failure to appear warrants was taken into custody Saturday afternoon.
Iowa City Police came in contact with 48-year-old David Robinson of Potter Street on the 2000 block of Taylor Drive at approximately 2pm. As they attempted to talk with him, Robinson reportedly took off running. He was apprehended after a short chase.
A search incident to arrest allegedly found marijuana in his pocket.
Robinson was wanted for a reported domestic abuse assault that occurred on the 7th, also on the 2000 block of Taylor Drive. According to the victim, Robinson came to the residence and started a verbal argument that escalated. He allegedly picked the woman up and tried to throw her out of the house. The woman wrapped her hands in Robinson’s hair to defend herself, causing her finger and fingernail to break.
Robinson also allegedly threw a chair at the woman’s vehicle, causing approximately $400 in damage.
He also had an arrest warrant for failing to appear at arraignment on a marijuana possession charge on June 25th.
Robinson was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or Subsequent Offense and 4th degree Criminal Mischief for the July 7th incident, and Marijuana Possession and Interference with Official Acts for Saturday’s incident. With the marijuana possession charge from earlier this year, Robinson could be sentenced to over 8 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
