The Cedar Rapids Fire Department extinguished a commercial structure fire Monday night.
Crews were deployed to the 3200 block of Johnson Avenue NW at around 6:30 pm on reports of a building on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story commercial building with smoke showing. The fire was quickly brought under control, and the building was ventilated to remove products of combustion.
The structure suffered moderate fire, smoke and water damage.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
An initial damage estimate was not available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
