An Iowa City man faces jail time after an alleged trespass incident early Monday.
Police were called to a residence on Bittersweet Court for a 911 hangup. The resident stated that 24-year-old Kelvin Ware of Muscatine Avenue had been asked several times to leave the premises, but he refused.
Ware allegedly fled from officers when attempting to remove him from the property. After a chase, he was caught and reportedly resisted arrest by tensing up his arms.
While receiving medical treatment, he told an officer, “When I get out of jail, I’m going to your house and smash all the windows.” He also said he was going to beat up the officer.
Ware was charged with Trespass, Interference with Official Acts, and 2nd degree Harassment. If convicted on the charges, he faces up to 13 months in jail.
