An Iowa man was taken into custody after being found in possession of multiple depictions of child pornography.

On January 24th 2023, a search warrant was executed by University of Iowa Police with the Department of Criminal Investigations on an East Court Street residence.  Nine items were seized, and three of them had child porn on them.  Now 22-year-old Justin Farrell of Madrid Iowa allegedly had 40 images and five videos of child pornography located on his cellphone. This totaled 53 counts of prohibited sex acts, all of them reportedly featuring prepubescent children, some as young as toddler age.

A warrant was issued March 14th of this year, and Farrell was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. He faces 53 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor through the purchase or possession of child pornography.  Each is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years, meaning if he’s convicted on all charges, Farrell could be sentenced to over 100 years in prison.
