The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has helped recover a stolen vehicle from the Iowa River.
According to a sheriff’s office news release, the vehicle was recovered from the river at 6:41 Thursday morning at the Curtis Bridge Boat Ramp near Interstate 380. The vehicle was found in about 3-4 feet of water near the ramp, with the top of the vehicle visible from shore. First responders confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied, and there are no searches underway for missing persons.
The vehicle was reported stolen to the Iowa City Police Department on Wednesday. The incident remains under investigation by the ICPD, and no further information has been made available.
