Cedar Rapids Police arrest passenger from diverted flight

Cedar Rapids Police were called to the Eastern Iowa Airport last night to arrest a passenger who caused a disturbance on a domestic flight.

According to a release from the city, a Sky West flight from Omaha to Detroit had to touch down at the airport to deal with a single male passenger who now faces several charges.  Officers met the flight and arrested 23-year-old Mario Nikpelaj of Nebraska.

He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center, where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Possession of Prescription Medication, a Tax Stamp violation, and 1st degree Harassment.

The release indicates further charges are possible pending further investigation.
