Allegedly attacking her son with a PlayStation because he refused to pray had led to the arrest of an Iowa City woman.

Iowa City Police were called to the Pheasant Ridge Apartments on Bartelt Road just before 10:00 Friday night for a domestic dispute. An investigation determined that 52-year-old Mutaza Fadol was upset that her son was Face-timing a friend while laughing at her and refusing to pray. Fadol allegedly grabbed the son’s PlayStation and chased him with it while swinging it at him. One swing connected with the son’s right forearm, causing swelling and a small cut. The incident was recorded on video.

The son told police his mother had locked up all the food, and he had not eaten all day. Food was found locked in Fadol’s car where the son could not get to it.

Fadol is now charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, she faces a maximum of one year in jail.
