An Iowa City man wanted on a warrant was arrested Sunday and reportedly was found with illegal substances on his person.
Police located 31-year-old Jamal Cotton of Southgate Avenue near the intersection of Boyrum and Olympic Streets shortly after 10pm and placed under arrest for the active warrant. A search incident to arrest reportedly led officers to find a small amount of marijuana, a prescription drug not packaged appropriately, and 2 pills of a controlled substance.
Cotton was charged with marijuana possession, unlawful possession of a prescription drug, and a controlled substance violation. He could be sentenced to up to three years in prison if found guilty on all counts.
