Riverside Casino has opted not to file an appeal after a judge rejected their challenge to a new casino in Cedar Rapids.
Riverside argued that the 2021 vote authorizing gaming in the county was worded incorrectly and therefore invalid. They also claimed the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission erred in awarding the gaming license to Linn County.
Cedar Rapids mayor Tiffany O’Donnell posted earlier this week on Facebook that it’s “full steam ahead at Cedar Crossings Casino.” She said the $275 million project includes 700 slots, 22 table games, signature restaurants, a 1500-seat venue for concerts, an arts and cultural center, and a free STEM lab for students. The post also said the project is moving forward, bringing jobs, entertainment and new energy to the riverfront.
Target opening date is New Year’s Eve 2026.
