North Liberty Police say a Washington County man found a wallet near Coralville Lake, then used the credit cards inside to make various purchases.

18-year-old Jonathan Jackson of Ainsworth reportedly found the wallet on the ground at West Overlook Beach over the July 4th weekend. He and an unidentified co-defendant then allegedly used three credit cards Jackson found inside to make six different purchases totaling $2,195.98. Some of the purchases were made at Best Buy, Raising Cane’s and Riverside Fireworks.

Jackson is now charged with 2nd Degree Theft and a felony count of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
