Iowa City Police say a Louisa County man was lying in wait in a park until the protected party in a no-contact order against him drove by, then followed her home.
31-year-old Antonio Aguilar of Columbus Junction was arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office after he was stopped for speeding on Oak Crest Hill Road just before 3:45 Saturday morning. Deputies say he showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and had a breath alcohol level of .162%.
Aguilar was wanted for a July 5th incident during which he allegedly parked at Scott Church Park on American Legion Road and waited for a woman who has a no-contact order against him to drive by. Police say when the woman passed the park just before 11:15 p.m., Aguilar followed her home.
The woman saw Aguilar and pulled over to call 9-1-1. When she stopped, Aguilar reportedly got out of his vehicle and walked up to her driver’s side window. She refused to get out or roll down the window. Instead, she showed him through the window that she had called 9-1-1, and he returned to his vehicle and drove away.
The woman has a no-contact order against Aguilar stemming from a Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury conviction in Muscatine County from 2024.
Aguilar is now charged with Operating While Intoxicated and a no-contact order violation.
