Recently released figures show statewide gaming revenue has dropped again.
The Gazette reports it’s the third straight year the industry has seen a revenue decline. Officials say the numbers are a continued correction after a post-pandemic spike in Iowa’s gaming revenue, and point out that despite the 2.6 percent drop, the numbers area still over 15 percent better than pre-pandemic levels.
The addition of the Cedar Crossing Casino is expected to increase overall state gaming revenue by roughly $50 million to $60 million, though studies project the new site will take gaming revenue from other Iowa casinos.
Iowa has already seen revenues drop in part because of gambling being legalized in Nebraska recently. The two Council Bluffs Casinos showed revenue drops of 6 and 4 ½ percent this last fiscal year, respectively.
Riverfront Crossings has a target opening date of New Year’s Eve 2026.
