An Iowa City man was arrested after he allegedly used a found debit card at multiple locations.
According to the criminal complaint, 44-year-old Robert Williams found a CashApp card belonging to the victim on July 17th. He then proceeded to use the card to make purchases at Kum & Go, Papa Johns, Uber, Hawkeye Liquor, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and HyVee.
Wiliams allegedly is seen on surveillance video using the card, and admitted to doing so during an interview. He spent $147.80 in total at the seven locations.
A warrant was requested, and Williams was taken into custody Tuesday. He’s charged with unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in jail if convicted.
Williams was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment.
