A Tiffin man faces prison time after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s residence and assaulting her.

Police were called to the North Liberty residence of the victim Sunday at 10:45am. She stated 38-year-old Jamial Jones of Greenfield Drive forced his way into her residence by shoving her 2 to 3 times before shoving her so hard that she was pushed back 2-3 feet before falling to the ground. He was reportedly told multiple times that he was not to be in the residence, told to leave, and that he was not welcome there.

Jones allegedly took two of the three children in the residence with him and left the area, and reportedly also tried to remove the doorbell camera.

Officers reportedly noted visible injuries on the woman’s chest and lower back from the assault.  Jones and the woman previously lived together, but had not cohabitated for about 15 months.

That afternoon, the woman went to the North Liberty Police Department, alleging  that Jones had sent text messages threatening to kill her.  She stated that he has the means and the access to do so, and was in fear for her life.

Jones was located in Tiffin and charged with 1st degree Burglary, simple assault, and 1st degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts, he faces over 27 years in prison.
