The Washington County Board of Supervisors has approved the addition of an EMS Essential Service Tax Levy to this November’s ballot.

If approved by 60% of the voters, the levy would begin at 50¢ per $1,000 of assessed property value. The money raised would help fund the EMS services in each Washington County town, including Riverside, Kalona and Wellman, among others. The Washington County Ambulance Service would also see some of the money, which would be used to fund life-saving equipment, training, and communication systems.

The general election is set for November 4th.
