Iowa House Republicans elected Representative Bobby Kaufmann of Wilton as the new Majority Leader to guide the 67-member House Majority caucus through the remainder of the 91st General Assembly.
In a release from Iowa House Republicans, Kaufmann said, “I am committed to uniting our caucus to advance policies that strengthen our economy, support our families, and ensure our children will have bright futures.”
Kaufmann was first elected to the Iowa House in 2012. He has served as the Ways and Means Committee Chairman since 2022. Before his role leading the Ways and Means Committee, he served as Chairman of the House State Government and Government Oversight Committees.
Kaufmann replaces Representative Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley as Iowa House Majority Leader effective immediately. He announced a run for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District last month, seeking to fill the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra as the congressman considers a gubernatorial bid.
