At Tuesday’s Iowa City City Council meeting, members voted to boycott any and all public money from going towards entities in support of Israel and their role in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza .
CBS2 reports nearly 20 members of the community showed up to speak on the issue. One said it’s up to local governments to make decisions like this, even if it goes against bigger administrations. Resident Clara Reyen said, “So this is the time to choose whether you will align yourself with Trump’s administration and Kim Reynold’s administration or if you will stick with your constituents and stick with the people in front of you tonight and vote yes on this resolution.”
Every member voted for the resolution. Mayor Bruce Teague said he had no issues calling it genocide, and said his view does not make him anti-Sematic.
