An Iowa City woman who allegedly tried to hide a knife used in a stabbing has been arrested for drunk driving while awaiting sentencing.
44-year-old Lametry Hall of East Davenport Street was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the 800 block of South Gilbert Street just before noon Friday. Arriving police say she showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and provided a breath alcohol level of .209%. Hall was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense.
Hall is awaiting sentencing after making a plea deal in a case involving the stabbing of a clerk at the North Dubuque Street Casey’s last October. Iowa City Police say Hall met her 16-year-old daughter at the convenience store to collect a $200 debt from the alleged victim. The daughter and the clerk began fighting, with the daughter allegedly pulling out a knife and stabbing the man.
Surveillance video allegedly shows Hall placing her hand inside her daughter’s pocket and removing the knife used in the stabbing. She concealed it in her sweatshirt pocket and walked out of view of surveillance cameras, during which time she likely disposed of the blade.
Hall was initially charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Participating in a Riot, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Interference with Official Acts While Obstructing Prosecution. If convicted on all the original counts, Hall could have been sentenced to over 32 years in prison.
Her sentencing date is not listed in online records.
