An area transient was jailed last week after an incident involving himself and a woman.
According to the police report, officers were called to the 200 block of East Washington Street Wednesday on reports of a harassment and theft issue. 29-year-old Devontae King was identified by the victim prior to officer arrival.
When King saw an officer on scene, he allegedly began to walk away swiftly. The officer recognized him, called his name and told him to stop, but he reportedly said no and disappeared into a building.
An investigation determined that King allegedly threatened to beat the woman’s ass, and have the mother of his child beat her ass and her unborn child. A witness reportedly heard King threaten the woman.
A warrant was issued Friday; King was taken into custody that same afternoon. He was charged with 2nd degree Harassment, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
