Former students from Iowa City Central Junior High School will commemorate the now-defunct school at a special ceremony next week.
The Central Junior High School Class of 1975 will host a ceremony honoring former Central teachers and staff next Tuesday afternoon at 4 at the corner of Johnson and Market Streets. A brief program will feature the unveiling of a commemorative plaque recognizing the teachers and staff at the former location of the historic school from 1939-1983.
The free event is open to all former Central Junior High teachers, staff, alumni, and the general community. It will be held “rain or shine” and no RSVP is needed.
