A North Liberty woman was arrested last week after attempting to steal items from an Iowa City store and being found with methamphetamine.
Just before 11am Friday, 36-year-old Amy Wilsey of Heritage Drive was at Fin and Feather on Highway 1. The arrest report indicates she took several clothing items into a dressing room, concealed them in a purse, and denied having the items when confronted by staff.
When police arrived on scene, Wilsey was walking towards the restroom. The alarm near the restroom went off when she walked past, but reportedly told officers she didn’t conceal anything in her purse. However, she did allegedly state that there was meth in her purse. A small bag containing a crystal substance and five syringes were reportedly discovered. Wilsey then admitted to concealing items in her purse.
The value of the stolen items exceeded $500.
Wilsey was charged with 4th degree Theft and meth possession. If convicted on both counts, she faces a jail sentence of up to two years.
