A registered sex offender is accused of failing to keep in touch with the Johnson County Sheriff’s office, as is required by law.

30-year-old Ashton Allen was convicted of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in Linn County in 2014. The victim is listed as a girl between the ages of 14 and 17. At some point, Allen moved to North Jones Boulevard in North Liberty, and was required to report to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office every six months. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says Allen failed to appear at his last scheduled meeting in June, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Allen is charged with a Sex Offender Registration Violation – 2nd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.

The Iowa Sex Offender Registry now lists Allen’s address as Oakcrest Street in Iowa City as of August 1st.
