An Iowa City transient wanted for multiple parole violations was taken into custody over the weekend.
41-year-old Nicholas Anderson was wanted for an alleged theft from the Bread Garden Market on July 30th, when he reportedly selected several items including a package of prepared food and a drink and left without paying.
Anderson had been on probation since October when he was given a suspended sentence on a theft charge. Since then, he has missed several appointments with his probation officer and was charged with Operating a Vehicle without Owner’s consent.
Police caught up with Anderson late Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Benton and Riverside and arrested him. During a search, officers located a THC pen.
With the drug possession and Theft charges, Anderson could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
