A suspect accused of hiding the weapon used in a stabbing at an Iowa City convenience store has been given a 30-day jail sentence.
Judge Lars Anderson handed down that sentence to 43-year-old Lametry Hall of East Davenport Street on Monday. Hall was initially charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Participating in a Riot, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Interference with Official Acts While Obstructing Prosecution.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the North Dubuque Street Casey’s just before 1:30pm on October 26th, 2024. Iowa City Police say Hall met her 16-year-old daughter at the convenience store to collect a $200 debt from an employee. The daughter and the employee began fighting, with the daughter allegedly pulling out a knife and stabbing the man.
When police arrived, surveillance video allegedly showed Hall placing her hand inside her daughter’s pocket and removing the knife used in the stabbing. She concealed it in her sweatshirt pocket and walked out of view of surveillance cameras, during which time she likely disposed of the blade.
If convicted on all the original counts, Hall could have been sentenced to over 32 years in prison. Along with the 30-day jail sentence, Hall was also given two suspended five-year prison sentences.
Hall is facing an unrelated Operating While Intoxicated charge after a motor vehicle accident on the 800 block of South Gilbert Street earlier this month.
