A Florida man is accused of stealing his girlfriend’s father’s truck near River Junction while children were still inside the vehicle.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Jordan Wyatt of North Fort Myers was with his girlfriend, her father, and his six children at the River Junction access when he got into an altercation with his girlfriend’s father. Wyatt allegedly threw the man out of the truck onto the ground, threatened to kill him, and fled the scene in the truck with the girlfriend and five of the children still inside. One 13-year-old child called 9-1-1. The other five children were allegedly not buckled in when Wyatt fled, with three of the children being under the age of six without car seats.
The reported adult victim suffered a bloody injury to his face.
Wyatt is charged with 1st Degree Theft, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Child Endangerment, and 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
