A ten-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Iowa City and West Liberty will be closed completely Monday night.
That’s according to a post on the official City of West Branch Facebook page. The post says I-80 will be closed in both directions between the Rochester Avenue exit and the West Liberty exit starting at 11:00 Monday night and will reopen Tuesday morning at 5. The closure is necessary while crews set the beams for construction of the Lower West Branch Road bridge over I-80. During the closure, traffic will be diverted on Herbert Hoover Highway and County Road F44 through West Branch and Springdale.
Officials hope the closure will only be necessary for one night.
There will be flaggers and stop signs at all intersections as well as enforcement at the ramps.
