The University of Iowa has painted another Tiger Hawk on another water tower.
Hawkeye fans clamored for years to have school officials paint the iconic logo on the water tower near the University of Iowa Heath Care main hospital. The tower can be seen from most of Kinnick Stadium and sits across the street from the northeast stands. In 2018, UI officials capitulated, and the Tiger Hawk became a staple of the Kinnick Stadium experience.
But last year school officials announced the water tower would be torn down after the 2025 football season to make way for UIHC expansion. A new water tower has been built across Hawkins Drive from Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and on Friday painters added a Tiger Hawk to that water tower. The opposite side sports a black-and-gold “Iowa” which was painted earlier this week.
While the new water tower can’t be seen from most of Kinnick Stadium, the Hawkeye logo will be visible past the third base stands at baseball games at Banks Field.
