IOWA CITY, IA – August 21, 2025 – Dream City is proud to announce the Grand Opening of its newly renovated community hub at 611 Southgate Avenue on Sunday, August 24 at 2:30 p.m. This milestone celebration represents the completion of a multi-million-dollar acquisition and renovation project supported by the City of Iowa City and community partners, and it signals the beginning of a new chapter of expanded programming, entrepreneurship support, and community revitalization.
The Grand Opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours of the renovated facility, food, music, and opportunities for the community to connect. This is a moment of celebration not just for Dream City, but for all who have invested in building a more inclusive and equitable future for Iowa City.
This achievement follows the City of Iowa City’s $3 million investment through the Inclusive Economic Development Support for Underestimated Businesses and Entrepreneurs initiative. That funding was designated to support three major goals: acquisition and renovation, infrastructure strengthening, and expanded programming, all of which are now in motion:
- Acquisition & Renovation: The purchase and transformation of 611 Southgate Avenue into a modern hub for innovation, community gatherings, and entrepreneurship.
- Strengthening Infrastructure: Enhancements to office, commercial, and public event spaces, ensuring long-term sustainability and access for diverse community members.
- Programming & Community Revitalization: The launch of dynamic programs that span cultural events, business development workshops, youth leadership initiatives, and holistic wellness opportunities.
