A reported assault at Hope House has led to an arrest.
Coralville Police were called to the Holiday Road facility just after 11:00 Friday night for an incident that occurred about two hours earlier. The alleged victim reports 29-year-old Rayshon Rushing punched him following a verbal altercation. The person who claimed to be assaulted had blood on his shirt and pants and claimed his face was numb as a result of the punch. Police say Rushing told them he didn’t know what the other person was talking about.
Rushing is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
Rushing was sentenced to one year in Hope House last May after pleading guilty to weapons charges involving a stolen handgun last November. He has a 2017 felony conviction out of Polk County, making him ineligible to possess firearms.
