An area transient was reportedly found with a bag of meth when officers arrested him last week for failing to appear at a court date.

Police located 53-year-old Robert Truelsen on the 100 block of East Court Street Friday just after 11:30pm.  He was wanted for failing to appear at a probation revocation hearing that morning.

While Truelsen was placed under arrest, he allegedly tried to drop a clear plastic bag containing meth.

With two previous drug possession convictions in 2024, Truelsen was charged with a 3rd or subsequent Controlled Substance violation.  If convicted on the charge, he faces up to five years in prison.

Truelsen was arrested earlier this summer after allegedly stealing food, drink and testosterone pills from the CVS store in the Old Capital Mall.  A case management conference is scheduled for October 13th.  He could get a sentence of up to two years if convicted on the 3rd degree Theft charge.
