Cedar Rapids Police make arrests in weekend shots fired incident

Cedar Rapids Police have announced the arrests of three individuals regarding a shots-fired incident over the weekend.

Just after 1pm Saturday, officers responded to the incident near the 300 block of 19th Street SE.  They located two suspects in the area and saw them get into a purple Ford Fusion. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, and persons from the vehicle were ultimately detained as part of the investigation.  Evidence of a shooting was located at the scene.  No injuries were reported, and police did not believe there was a current threat to the public.

The three individuals were all Cedar Rapids residents. They include:

  • 17- year-old Larell Rushing, charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Interference with Official Acts while Displaying Weapons, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Minor armed with a Concealed Dangerous Weapon, and Person Ineligible to Carry Weapons.
  • 18-year-old Kristophe Rushing, charged with Eluding while exceeding the speed limit by 25 miles per hour or more, Accessory after the Fact, and Interference with Official Acts, and
  • 20-year-old Camron Rushing, charged with Interference with Official Acts.

Kristophe Rushing appeared in court Monday and was released after posting bond. Camron Rushing pleaded guilty to his charge and was fined $250.  Larell Rushing, whose name was released due to being charged as an adult, has yet to make his court appearance.
