A Johnson County jury took just 12 minutes to find a West Branch man guilty of indecent exposure.
That’s according to a news release from the Johnson County Attorney’s Office. According to the police report, the incident in question occurred at approximately 4:40pm on December 13th, 2023 at the Iowa City Walmart. Officers were called to the store to take a report of a male who had exposed himself to a child.
The 11-year-old stated that 46-year-old Dustin Hills was following her in the toy aisles. When she looked over at him, she allegedly saw him stroking himself, with his penis and scrotum exposed.
Surveillance video allegedly shows Hills following the victim out of the toy aisle just before the girl reported the incident to her mother and store employees.
An image of Hills was posted to the ICPD Facebook page with a request for assistance from the public in identifying him. Hills reportedly contacted police to ask that his photo be removed from the site, leading to his arrest.
Hills was convicted of Indecent Exposure on Wednesday. Sentencing is set for October 2nd. The charge carries a maximum sentence of two years in jail.
