Iowa gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand has picked up a big endorsement from the health care sector.
SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa, the union which represents approximately 4,000 employees at University of Iowa Health Care, announced its endorsement of the democratic candidate on Thursday.
Barbara Stanerson, a Physical Therapist at UIHC and Vice President of SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa, said in a news release that the group is supporting Sand because change is needed from the declining wages in the health care industry and cuts to Medicaid and other health care programs seen under current Governor Kim Reynolds.
Two other candidates have announced their plans to run for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. They include business professional Julie Stauch …who also served as the Iowa political director for the Pete Buttigieg campaign…and bus driver Paul Dahl.
