Chatham Oaks resident accused of assaulting medication aid

A resident at Chatham Oaks faces a felony charge after he allegedly assaulted a medication aid.

Iowa City Police were called to the Melrose Avenue nursing care facility just before 6:30 Friday night. The alleged victim, a certified medication aid employed by Chatham Oaks, reported that she was speaking with 36-year-old David Creech when Creech became agitated. He allegedly approached the worker and struck her repeatedly with both fists on the top of her head, leaving welts and small abrasions.

Creech is charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations Causing Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
