A University of Iowa student faces a criminal mischief charge after he reportedly urinated in a downtown Iowa City bank stairwell.

An employee of MidWestOne Bank on the corner of Clinton and Washington Streets observed the 20-year-old in a secured stairwell at 9:15 Saturday night, long after the bank had closed for business. The Norwalk resident allegedly refused to leave and showed signs of intoxication. An investigation determined he had urinated all over the stairwell, and a cleaning service was called in at a cost of $250.

The student was also reportedly in possession of a fake ID. He’s now charged with 5th Degree Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication, and Possession of a Fake ID. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
