Former Iowa State Representative Bob Krause says he’s running for US Senate.
KCRG TV reports he was a three term legislator in the 70s before working in the Carter Administration. He also served on the Waterloo School Board for three years. He’s run for treasurer, governor, and U.S. Senate three times before this campaign without success.
He announced earlier this year that he was running for US Congress in the 1st district to unseat Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks. He now says he’s suspending that campaign and instead will try to win the seat currently held by Republican Joni Ernst. She’s indicated that she will announce this week that she will not seek re-election.
With Krause’s announcement, he endorsed Christina Bohannan for the 1st district.
Krause joins an already-crowded Democratic field vying for the Senate seat. They include Jackie Norris, Zach Wahls, Josh Turek and Nathan Sage. CNN is reporting Ashley Hinson is making plans to enter the Senate race.
