A Quad Cities motorcyclist is accused of leading an officer from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on a high-speed chase near Lake Macbride.

According to arrest records, the DNR officer was patrolling 180th Street heading toward Solon just after 4:45 on the afternoon of August 17th when he was passed by a motorcycle with no rear license plate that was clocked going 93 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. The DNR official activated his lights and siren at the next stop sign, but the motorcycle pulled away at a high rate of speed.

The officer pursued the motorcycle for about two minutes before it began passing other vehicles in a reckless manner. The chase was discontinued for safety reasons. A Johnson County deputy had also been pursuing the motorcycle in a different situation that same afternoon.

The DNR officer caught up with three other motorcyclists who had been riding with the suspect, who they identified as 20-year-old Deontae Morrow.

The DNR officer then went to Morrow’s Davenport residence, where he found the motorcycle parked outside with the rear license plate missing. The vehicle…which was registered to Morrow…was impounded. Morrow either wasn’t home or refused to answer the door.

Morrow was charged with Eluding earlier this week. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Morrow was arrested just before 7:45 Friday night after leading Washington County deputies on a chase on Highway 218 through Riverside. He was charged in that case with Eluding, Speeding, and Driving While Barred.
