A Solon man faces robbery, burglary, and other felony charges in Washington County.

48-year-old Jacob Eakes was taken into custody just before 8:00 Tuesday morning after the Washington County Sheriff’s office received a tip that he was at a residence on 190th Street, south of River Junction. Eakes was wanted for an August 22nd incident during which he allegedly kicked in the front door of a house and assaulted a resident…at one point reportedly using a metal coat hanger to strike the woman. Eakes allegedly caused damage inside the residence before escaping from the house through a broken window and continuing the assault outside. Investigators say dash cam video shows Eakes strangling the woman and saying he was gong to kill her. He then reportedly left with the woman’s keys and cellphone. The woman was then forced to walk 1.5 miles to a neighbor to call law enforcement.

Eakes is now charged with 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Theft, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, 1st Degree Harassment, Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, and 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 56 years in prison.

A preliminary hearing is set for next Friday.
