Witnesses claim a knife-wielding woman made death threats at a rural Iowa City residence earlier this week.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Delcy Gonzalez Velasquez of Herbert Hoover Highway was in a verbal and physical altercation with a family member with whom she lives just after 3:00 Thursday afternoon. Gonzalez Velasquez then reportedly grabbed a knife and began repeatedly stabbing a door while telling the other woman she was going to kill her.
Gonzalez Velasquez is now charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, 1st Degree Harassment, and Domestic Abuse Assault. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of over seven years in prison.
