A Coralville man is accused of threatening to blow up the Johnson County Courthouse.
28-year-old Mitchell Brock of 5th Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 1:15 Wednesday afternoon. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Brock sent email to a group of recipients that included the Johnson County Clerk of Court. One email sent on August 29th stated, “So here’s the rub I have a bomb I will blow up the court house.”
Other email sent since August 4th details Brock’s frustrations with the government and the court system. The latest email sent on September 1st contained the subject line, “I’ll commit any crime hands down right now as long as all of you are honest enough to admit that your (sic) all criminals and absolute trash.”
Brock is now charged with 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
