An Iowa City woman faces possible prison time after an alleged assault at a Lone Tree residence she was vacating.
The police report indicates 19-year-old Ciera Coon of Douglas Street was in the process of moving out of a residence in Lone Tree Tuesday afternoon, and got into an argument with the alleged victim. She is accused of jumping on top of her roommate, choking her with both hands, and biting her on the right bicep. The roommate stated she thought she was going to die.
The woman was able to free herself from Coon and get behind a locked door. Coon allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed at the door. When interviewed, Coon reportedly admitted to starting the fight and jumping on top of her roommate.
She was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, Domestic Abuse Assault with the Use of a Weapon, and Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow. If convicted on all counts, Coon could be sentenced to a maximum of 8 years in prison.
A no-contact order was requested between Coon and the roommate.
