A Kalona man who was already facing local sexual abuse counts in Washington County has now been charged federally.
34-year-old Alexander Dehogues was charged in June by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Possession of Child Pornography. If convicted on both counts, he would have faced a maximum of 12 years in prison.
Earlier this week, federal officials filed similar charges against Dehogues.
Dehogues is accused of using hidden cameras between January of 2021 and August of 2023 to record two minors while they were nude.
The local charges were dismissed on Thursday in favor of the federal charges, which would carry the same maximum 12-year sentence. However, there is no parole in the federal system.
