A sex offender has died while being treated at University of Iowa Health Care.
The Iowa Department of Corrections reports 59-year-old Timothy Duane Smith was pronounced dead at 8:17 a.m. on Sept. 9th in the palliative care unit of the UIHC Hawkins Drive campus. Smith had been serving a 50-year prison sentence after a pair of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse convictions in Cass County in August of 2018.
