Convicted murder dies at UIHC while serving his prison term

A convicted murder has died at University of Iowa Health Care while serving his prison term.

According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, 61-year-old Rick Allen DeVries was pronounced dead at 5:46 Wednesday morning at the UIHC Hawkins Drive campus. DeVries was convicted of murdering his girlfriend in Chickasaw County in 2004. His sentence began on Oct. 15^th of that year.
