The University of Iowa’s new FLOCK cameras have helped lead to the capture of a wanted subject on campus.
Arrest records indicate the new cameras captured a 2018 Volkswagen Jetta being driven by 22-year-old Saul Vazquez of West Liberty as he was driving through the west campus just before 5:15 Tuesday night. The camera software read the license plate and determined Vazquez was wanted for failing to appear at a hearing for Driving While Barred. UI Police caught up with Vazquez after he parked at the Pharmacy Building on South Grand Avenue.
Vazquez was charged with Driving While Barred and taken into custody on the previous warrant. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
