This week was the deadline for filing for municipal elections in Johnson County.
Iowa City City Council at-large candidates running for two seats include Newman Abuissa, Megan Alter, Clara Reynen and Bruce Teague, with a pair of District B candidates in Shawn Harmsen and Amy Hospodarsky.
In Coralville, Laurie Goodrich and Ryan Swenka are vying to replace the outgoing Meghann Foster as mayor, while Katie Freeman, Deborah Gill, Kathy Hotsenpiller, Mike Knudson, Hai Huynh, R. Marshall Pope, Derick Schroeder, and Jennifer Struthers are running for three contested spots on the city council. Candidate Jennifer Williams had her nomination papers rejected.
The North Liberty city council race will see two of three people elected, including Tonja Fortney, Erek Sittig, and Brian Wayson.
Tiffin has four people running for three city council seats. They include Al Havens, Tony Johnson, Tim Orris, and Eric Schnedler.
Two people will also earn council seats in Shueyville among Mark J Divitt, Joel Sennett, and Matthew Wilson.
Five people are running for three spots on the Solon city council, including Cole Gabriel, Tim Gordon, Matthew Macke, Greg Morris, and Lauren Whitehead.
