A North Liberty woman was convicted Monday by a Minnesota jury in the murder of an Iowa City woman who had just moved to the state to pursue a music career.
KCJJ reported back in 2024 that 34-year-old Margot Lewis crashed a vehicle southeast of Rochester on June 22nd, with the body of 35-year-old Liara Tsai in the backseat. Authorities determined Tsai’s death wasn’t because of the crash, and a check of her Minneapolis residence found signs of violence. Her initial cause of death was listed as due to multiple sharp-force injuries.
Lewis was convicted by a a Hennepin County jury on both counts of second-degree murder with intent not premeditated and second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony. She is due to be sentenced November 18th and still faces a charge of concealing a body in Olmsted County, Minnesota.
