An Iowa City man was arrested after it was allegedly determined he stole from an apartment building’s washing machine.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 9th. The landlord, Aspen Ventures, reported a laundry machine coin receptacle and a surveillance camera went missing at 104 West Side Drive.

The camera took several periodic photos showing 34-year-old transient Kyle Von Rossum, who was not a resident or guest at the apartment building, tampering with the receptacle. The camera went offline after the last photo.

Von Rossum was identified by several officers; the camera was valued at $150.

A warrant was issued Tuesday, and Von Rossum was charged with 3rd degree Burglary. He faces a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
