A Cedar Rapids woman was charged with OWI after a traffic stop overnight Sunday in downtown Iowa City.

18-year-old Ireland Truex of Kirkwood Boulevard SW was on the 600 block of South Capitol Street just before 1am, operating a red Camry without her headlights on and was stopped by an officer.  Upon contact, she reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. Additionally, Truex allegedly had a 12 pack of High Noon beer in the vehicle, with one open.  Also reportedly discovered were a partial bottle of Malibu, a shooter in her purse, and a bottle of wine in the backseat.

Truex was charged with OWI first offense and possession of alcohol by an underage adult.  She faces up to a year in jail if convicted.
