A University of Iowa Pharmacy student was arrested late Saturday night after allegedly walking in public with a can of alcohol.
Police observed the 25-year-old carrying a can that resembled an alcoholic beverage near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Byington Road at around 9:45 pm Saturday. Upon contact, the can reportedly had been discarded. The student said he didn’t have any identification on him except for an expired firearms license.
The man reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes and admitted to consuming alcohol. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication, and refused a post-arrest PBT.
A search of his person found that he had several drivers licenses on him, including a fake one from Illinois.
The student was charged with public intoxication and possession of fake IDs. He could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.
